Where to get passport photos?
You can get passport photos at Courtesy Photo in Mississauga, no appointment needed, just walk in. We’re a government-recognized commercial photo studio, which is required by IRCC; home-printed or scanned photos aren’t accepted. Photos are ready in minutes and checked for size and compliance before you leave.
Can I take my own passport photo at home?
No. Canadian rules say the photo must be taken by a commercial photographer, not at home. A selfie or home-printed photo will be rejected, even if it looks fine to you.
Where can I get a digital passport photo?
Courtesy Photo provides digital passport photos in Mississauga that meet IRCC’s online renewal requirements. Even digital photos must be taken in person by a commercial photographer, a selfie or scanned print won’t be accepted. We’ll give you a compliant digital file ready to upload.
What is the size of a passport size photo?
A Canadian passport photo must be 50mm x 70mm, with your face measuring 31–36mm from chin to crown. This is different from the U.S. 2×2 inch size and the UK’s 35x45mm, using the wrong format is one of the most common rejection reasons.
Can you wear makeup for a passport photo?
Yes, but keep it natural and modest. Your skin tone and features need to look clear and true to life, heavy makeup, contouring, or anything that changes your natural appearance can cause your photo to be rejected.
Who can sign for a passport photo?
One of your two passport photos needs to be signed on the back by a guarantor, someone who can confirm the photo is a true likeness of you. The photographer also stamps the back with the studio name, address, and date taken; we handle that part for you.
Can you smile for a passport photo?
No, Canadian passport photos require a neutral expression with your mouth closed and no smiling. Even a slight smile can affect the facial measurements used for biometric checks, so keep your face relaxed and eyes open, looking straight at the camera.
